Ledesma aims higher on Millers return

RETURNING winger Emmanuel Ledesma has declared that “Rotherham will surprise everyone” next season.

The 27-year-old Argentine moved back to the AESSEAL New York Stadium when his contract with Middlesbrough ended after enjoying a productive loan spell in South Yorkshire last year, playing seven times and scoring one goal.

Ledesma also had a loan stint at fellow Championship side Brighton last season, where he turned out four times.

In total, the tricky wide-man turned out 56 times for Middlesbrough during his three year spell after signing from Walsall in 2012.

And he is over-the-moon to have the opportunity of playing in front of the NYS crowd again.

He said: “I am so happy to come back, I was here for a month before and I felt really good with the coach, the players and the fans.

“I think that this year I will play more games. Last year I didn’t play too much and I hope and wish this year will be different.

“I just want to play as much as possible and surprise everyone, not just myself. I want the team to surprise everyone and I think they can — we want to do more than last year and not be fighting against relegation.”

Added Ledesma: “We are looking for mid-table now, maybe a little bit better. The lads, the group, the team and the manager are really good.

“We are signing players with a lot of quality and there are players here from before with the same quality.

“We need that little bit more (than last season) and the new players bring that to the squad, we will surprise people, 100 per cent.”
