Late leveller foils Millers

A LATE equaliser denied Rotherham United victory in a tense Championship basement battle with Blackpool.

Leading through substitute Jordan Bowery’s 78th minute strike, the Millers were closing in on three precious points when a rare slip by goalkeeper Adam Collin allowed the bottom-of-the-table visitors to level it up at 1-1

A new-look side showing seven changes from last week’s defeat to Birmingham, including three debutants in Reece James, Scott Wootton and Tom Lawrence, made most of the running in the first half.

Lawrence and another recent loan recruit, Emmanuel Ledesma, went closest before the break while Adam Collin had to dive full length to keep out Nile Ranger’s header.

In the second half, Chris Eagles hammered a shot against Collin while Ben Pringle and Ledesma had the Blackpool back line scrambling before Bowery fired in from 20 yards to put the Millers within sight of their first win in seven matches.

But when Collin failed to connect with a long ball five minutes from time, Blackpool sub Steve Davies tucked away the loose ball and the afternoon ended in frustration.
