Kevin recovers after race collapse
TEAK-tough Kimberworth Strider Kevin Doyle had to spent 17 hours on a hospital drip after collapsing while leading an ultra distance track race.
In the 24-hour event at Oxford’s Radley Sports College, Doyle was leading the race. ten laps in front of the second place runner and a hefty 300 laps ahead of third.
But having completed 300 laps, equivalent to 85 miles, he was overcome by dehydration and muscle fatigue.

Hide AdEvent paramedics were quick to organise his going to hospital in Oxford, where he was placed on a drip, before he was released after observation.
Said Striders senior official Ken Chapman: “Kevin is now back at home resting, getting ready to take on another challenge as soon as he is fit and well recovered.”
