Josh gets title eliminator shot

DETERMINED Josh Wale says he can’t wait to get into the ring for what will be one of the biggest nights of his life.

And the 27-year-old says he’ll grab his chance when he faces Leigh Wood in a British Super Bantamweight title eliminator on the big Kell Brook bill at Sheffield Arena next month.

Still unbeaten Brook takes on Diego Chaves in defence of his IBF World Welterweight crown in front of what’s expected to be a sell-out crowd at the Attercliffe venue.

But Wale says it will also be his night as he continues his comeback from a mixed mid-career spell.

The Wath fighter has won four of his last night bouts, victory over Dai Davies at Magna in May making up for a contentious British Super Bantamweight crown defeat against Jazza Dickens at Liverpool’s Echo Arena two months earlier.

He’s keen to get back to title success — and says his experience will count against Nottingham fighter Wood, beaten only once in 16 outings.
