Jones delight at Titans' win

COACH Mark Jones has praised his side for a character-strewn proformance in their 26-24 win at Cornish Pirates.

Tries from Jordan Davies and Joe Barker, plus kicks from Davies and Will Goodwin, gave the Clifton Lane men a 13-0 interval lead.

But Pirates fought back and fell just short, having to settle for a bonus point.

It was Rotherham’s second win of the Championship campaign and sets them up well for this weekend’s derby clash with Doncaster.

Said Jones: “I’m hugely proud of the boys to a man, from one to 22 they all put in a big shift defensively, particularly in the last 30 minutes.

“But it’s important we learn the lessons of why we had to defend for that length of time at the end of the match.

“We scored fairly early in the second half to give us a 23-3 buffer and I think we just took our foot of the gas; I think we relaxed in some of our skill sets, we kicked our restarts in the wrong areas, we had some ill discipline in our own 22 and we allowed them a way back into the game.”
