'It will be fast and furious' says Millers chairman

ROTHERHAM United chairman Tony Stewart is backing Neil Redfearn to cope with a hectic introduction to the manager's job.

No sooner has the new man introduced himself to the players than he's got a run of three matches in a week against Brentford, Reading and Sheffield Wednesday.

Mr Stewart told the Advertiser: "We've got three games in seven days. It will be fast and furious for Neil but he wants it, he's licking lips. He introduced himself to the players and he knows Aidy White, Paul Green and Eric Black so he has fitted in nicely.

"He says he is surprised at the calibre of players he's got and he thinks he can get more out of them."

The fact Redfearn has been handed a deal that stretches to nearly three years shows that both parties intend building a lasting relationship and as with previous managers,  he will be given the backing to do the job.

Mr Stewart added: "My job is to avoid creating any mystery and to keep things transparent, encourage, invest and do what's required for a manager in the modern game trying to get to the highest rung on the ladder."

You'll find much more on Neil Redfearn's appointment, and a look ahead to Saturday's match at Brentford, in this week's Advertiser.
