I love the Rotherham tradition, says new coach

NEW man Justin Burnell says he's looking forward to working in a traditional rugby environment at Rotherham Titans - and says he's loved his first few days at the club.

Burnell, who took charge after the parting of ways with Mark Jones, hails from good old fashioned Welsh rugby stock and life at Clifton Lane has already struck a chord with him

"I like the rugby ethos at Rotherham. What struck me was the similarity between the people involved at Rotherham and my old club back in Wales," he says.

"They were so happy to see me when I came up to meet them on Tuesday and couldn’t do enough — the point I’m making is that I’d imagine over 50 per cent of people there are volunteers and that’s the lifeblood of any club. In the professional era it’s become very cut-throat at the top and some clubs have lost that bit of identity - but Rotherham have more than retained theirs even though they’ve had a lot of success over the years."
