'Good start' for Millers

ROTHERHAM United bagged an opening-day win against Oxford United at Don Valley Stadium on Saturday, much to the delight of manager Andy Scott.

Lewis Grabban, one of eight new signings in the matchday squad, bagged the only goal of the game with a fine 20-yard strike shortly after half time.

Scott said: "It was a good start against a side who are going to be strong. We had a couple of scares along the way but apart from that we looked pretty comfortable.

"I was pleased with not just our ability on the ball but our work ethic off it.

"We've seen in the pre-season games what we are capable of but not for 90 minutes, but we saw that on Saturday."

The Millers' bench included latest recruit Michael Raynes. The centre-half signed from Scunthorpe United on Friday for an undisclosed fee.

He is in line for a start tomorrow against Leicester City in the Carling Cup at Don Valley Stadium because Troy Brown will be on duty with Wales U21s.
