Gate face league finale

PARKGATE’S Premier Division season is limping to an end after Saturday’s defeat at home to Arnold Town, leaving Doug Shelley’s men fighting to hang on to a top six finish.

They play their final home game against Thackley tomorrow knowing that a good win could be enough for a top-four slot if results for both Brighouse Town and Winterton Rangers go their way.

Conversely, if they lose to the mid-table outfit, that could open the door for Staveley to drop them down to seventh.

Against Arnold, Gate went down 2-1 to one of the division’s in-form teams, who had only one defeat in their previous 18 outings.
