Games are my priority: Goodison

OLYMPIAN Paul Goodison has revealed he turn his back on a shot at the lucrative Americas Cup in pursuit of top spot on the rostrum at this summer’s Games.

Goodison, 34 this year, is hotly tipped to repeat his Beijing gold medal success of four years ago when the action starts this summer.

And the Rotherham laser sailor, now a senior member of the Great Britain team, has turned his back on involvement in the ultra-prestige Americas Cup, unlike some of his Olympic rivals.

Aussie Tom Slingsby, who signed has tactician with the crack Oracle team, is one of several medal hopes involved in build-up events for next year’s Americas Cup—but Goodison believes it could blow them off course.

He said: “The Olympics are very special and if you get the chance to go there you have to concentrate on that."
