Frecklington keen to return

SIDELINED skipper Lee Frecklington wants to get over his latest injury setback and start leading Rotherham United once again.

Handed the captaincy last month in a well-publicised switch from Greg Halford, the club's longest-serving player was struck down by a calf injury in his first game wearing the armband and hasn't played since that match at Charlton.

He was on his way back until another injury last week stilted his progress and now the 30-year-old looks likely to have to wait beyond the current international break for his comeback.

“I am keen to get back,” Frecklington told the Advertiser. “I'm really disappointed given that the captain's armband was something I wanted to take on but unfortunately in the first game I was injured and I did my calf again last Wednesday, so I'm going to be out.

“The hospital says two to three weeks but obviously everyone is different so we will see how quickly I can get on. I'm very disappointed at the minute but I've just got to keep going and come back stronger and as quickly as possible.”
