Fran-tastic!

SKIPPER Fran Leighton will lead the Great Britain ladies water polo team in this summer’s Olympics.

The 30-year-old from Wath will be in the final squad for the Games following last week’s test event at the Olympic Park, which was watched by 3,000 enthusiastic fans.

Great Britain lost all four matches, against Australia, the USA and twice to Hungary, but even though they will still be underdogs when the medal chase starts in July, Fran is confident the team can make an impact.
