MANAGER Matt Taylor is anticipating Rotherham United departures during the January transfer window.

The boss intends to add to his squad in the New Year as the Millers bid to safeguard their place in the Championship.

That means some fringe men are likely to leave AESSEAL New York Stadium on loan to free up room for new arrivals.

“Unless they are close to featuring and contributing at this club, then they have to search for first-team football (elsewhere), as we have all done at different stages of our careers,” said Taylor, a centre-half in his own playing days.

He confirmed that Rotherham have been in talks with teams that are interested in taking players for the rest of the season.

“It is fair to say there have been discussions,” he said. “Clubs see which people aren’t getting the game-time they might want and might be available for loan.”

Young players could also make temporary exits to build up their experience.

Taylor has spoken of his desire to see central defender Jake Hull (pictured) playing regularly somewhere while attacking midfielders Curtis Durose and Ciaran McGuckin are already excelling at non-league Gainsborough Trinity and Scarborough Athletic respectively and may be moved higher up the pyramid.

Midfielder Mackenzie Warne is another youngster in need of match action.
