Smallest away following: 111 Morecambe fans at New York

TWO new attendance marks have been set by visiting supporters at AESSEAL New York Stadium.

The Millers' 1-0 pre-season July victory over South Yorkshire derby rivals Sheffield United attracted an away following of 3,779, which is a record number for the venue.

It exceeds by 50 the previous best, also set by the Blades when they won 1-0 in a friendly in July 2012, the year the ground opened.

The 111 Morecambe fans who watched their team lose a Carabao Cup first-round tie in a penalty shoot-out on August 8 was New York's lowest away figure for an official match.

The previous smallest of 118 was also recorded by the Shrimps, in the same competition in August 2016. On that occasion they won 5-4 in extra time.
