Manager Matt Taylor believes the Millers can provide something rival clubs can't.

ROTHERHAM United are hoping the first-team chances on offer at AESSEAL New York Stadium will swing the battle to land two Premier League loan youngsters in their favour.

The Championship Millers are in talks with top-flight clubs about their targets but face competition from bigger second-tier sides who can put more money towards brokering season-long moves.

However, they know that the amount of game-time that they can give prospects could work in their favour as discussions progress.

"Conversations are ongoing,” manager Matt Taylor confirmed to the Advertiser. “We are putting our ‘best’ forward: the opportunity to come and play Championship football and to actually start games. I'm not sure many Championship managers can actually say that.

“We're offering an incredible opportunity. I think that outweighs a lot of financial benefits Premier League clubs can get from loan moves. It's an opportunity for their players to develop in a good environment with good coaches.”

Rotherham, who play Stoke City on Saturday's opening day, will have to wait for answers because top-flight sides returned for pre-season later than Championship teams and aren't yet approving many loan moves because they need players for friendlies and training camps.

“We have to be patient because we can't force the deals home,” Taylor said.
