The Millers (4-3-3)

Viktor Johansson: 7

A top-drawer save in another very solid display

Dexter Lembikisa: 7

He's raw but looks like he could develop into something good. Has a burst of acceleration, likes to attack and also sticks to his task defensively.

Cameron Humphreys: 8

He and the man at the side of him, Tyler Blackett, are a good combination. They made plenty of clearances between them and both looked to use the ball constructively when they could.

Tyler Blackett: 8

Ditto Humphreys.

Cohen Bramall: 7

Decent. A real attacking threat in the first half when his pace scared Blackburn and then Rovers didn't get much change out of him when they pressed in the second period.

Cafu: 7

A class player. Not everything came off but he made things happen and competed well. A real danger on set-pieces, as he showed with his free-kick assist for Rotherham's second goal.

Ollie Rathbone: 8

Made a big, big contribution with the ball and without it. The Millers' man of the match.

Hakeem Odoffin: 7

No-one in the team strikes the ball as hard and true as this man does. He never looked like missing once he teed himself up. Elsewhere, he made an unspectacular but important physical contribution.

Ben Wiles: 5

It didn't happen for him. Did well to start after suffering a midweek dead leg but never really got going and looked to be labouring towards the end.

Jordan Hugill: 5

Not slow for the first few yards but then doesn't have the legs to stay away from defenders. It cost him and his team a clear chance in the first half.

Fred Onyedinma: 7

Was looking lively and loving life after opening his account for his new club. Sadly, that feeling wasn't allowed to last.

The subs

Sean Morrison (for Cafu 61): 6

A tough, steady customer at the back but uncomfortable against speed.

Georgie Kelly (for Hugill 61): 5

Battled. He always does. But not his day.

Tolaji Bola (for Lembikisa 81): NA

Brought on to help the Millers hold out and he did his job.

Ciaran McGuckin (for Rathbone 89): NA

Will head out on loan soon but great to see a youngster who has done himself no harm in pre-season and in the opening stages of the campaign get his first taste of Championship action.

Josh Kayode (for Wiles 89): NA

It was backs-against-the-wall stuff when he came on so not the time for a striker to shine.

Not used: Dillon Phillips, Jamie McCart, Josh Ayres.

Blackburn (4-2-3-1): Aynsley Pears 6; Joe Rankin-Costello 7, Hayden Carter 7, Dominic Hyam 7, Harry Pickering 7; Lewis Travis 7 (Callum Brittain 57), Adam Wharton 7 (John Buckley 90+5); Dilan Markanday 6 (Ryan Hedges 57, 6), Sammie Szmodics 7, Tyrhys Dolan 7 (Sam Gallagher 68, 7); Harry Leonard 5 (Niall Ennis 57, 7). Subs not used: Leopold Wahlstedt, Sondre Trondstad, Scott Wharton, Jake Garrett.

Referee: Robert Madley (West Yorkshire).

Attendance: 10,828 (1,916).

"It was a bit of a rollercoaster but entertaining for the fans. I think our fans will be disappointed we didn't come away with three points.

"We did not do enough of the right things in the first half. We played too slow. There were no runs and no switches of play. If we score that penalty then it would be a different game

"I was not happy with the first half. But I must give all my credit to the lads. They got a well-deserved first and second goal. I stopped counting the number of chances we had. Rotherham did really, really well and defended with great spirit. So credit to them. I think it was a miracle for them to have not lost that game with all those chances we created.

"When you’re behind 2-0 in an away game and you come back, you’re probably happy at the end of the day."

- Rovers boss Jon Dahl Tomasson
