PREVIEW: "We can cope" says Stubbs

MILLERS manager Alan Stubbs believes his players have enough about them to handle three big games in a week.

Beaten by Cardiff on home soil on Saturday, Stubbs' men travel to high-flying Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield tonight and host footballing giants Newcastle United this weekend.

But Stubbs isn’t considering the long game as he searches for a second win of the season. He is instead choosing to focus on one at a time and believes a little bit of tiredness isn't a deterrent.

He told the Advertiser: “We haven’t got a huge squad and I think right now we must put out a team that we think can get a result in each game.

“It’s not a huge ask players to play three games in a week, yes there’ll be a little bit of tiredness but there’s an international break coming up where they can rest up and recover before they go again.

“If it means getting two victories by going that extra yard even when you feel tired then that’s what you have to do.

“You just evaluate how everyone is after each game and if everything is fine other than a little bit of tiredness then out you go.”

Stubbs has no new injury concerns but does welcome back Cardiff loanee Tom Adeyemi after the midfielder sat out Saturday’s defeat as he couldn’t face his parent club.

Skipper Lee Frecklington came through his first start since the opening day with no ill effects and is expected to retain his starting spot.

Striker Dexter Blackstock, a late substitute at the weekend, is still not ready to start a game but should be in the squad tonight.

Meanwhile, surprise package Huddersfield Town, second in the table, have selection dilemmas of their own.

Influential winger Rajiv van La Parra will be missing after being sent off at the weekend while towering centre-half and skipper Mark Hudson is absent after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season, triggering a one-match ban.

Full-back Chris Lowe is also missing but Town boss David Wagner could  hand a full debut to Michael Hefele and a first outing to Tareiq Holmes-Dennis, signed from Charlton Athletic.
