The Millers were closing in on their tenth summer signing at the end of last week and, barring any late hitches, a loan deal should be completed tomorrow.

The young player has had interest from other teams but both he and his parent club believe AESSEAL New York Stadium is the best place for him to continue his development.

Manager Paul Warne confirmed after watching his side extended their unbeaten start to the Championship at QPR yesterday that he expected the new arrival to be in place before the second-round home tie with the Shrimpers.

Another player set to see action on Tuesday is striker Tom Eaves.

The summer signing was on the bench at Loftus Road after recovering from a calf injury and is ready for his long-awaited debut.

"Obviously I'll use him on Tuesday night to give him some minutes," said Warne. "I wanted to bring him on against QPR but the opportunity didn't arise because I'd used all my substitutes.

"I was going to bring him on as the last sub but then Dan (midfielder Barlaser) got done on a run once and I just thought: 'I need Jamie Lindsay's legs in there.'"

Centre-forward Josh Kayode is due to return to full training tomorrow after completing his five-week rehabilitation from a hamstring pull.
