Midfielder Cafu and centre-half Grant Hall weren't risked at Cardiff City yesterday but were both close enough to fitness to be part of the Millers group that travelled to South Wales.

All they have to do is tick one more box to make the squad for the visit to AESSEAL New York Stadium of the 11th-placed Robins.

"They're available as long as they get through training on Monday," said manager Matt Taylor after the 2-0 loss at Cardiff City Stadium. "That's not a big question mark.

"We hope they are close to where they need to be in terms of full speed and sharpness."

Playmaker Cafu, a key man in the opening stages of the Championship campaign, has sat out the last four matches with a hamstring niggle.Hall suffered hamstring damage in the final pre-season friendly, at Lincoln City, and has yet to play this term.

"The length they play on Wednesday will be dependent on how they feel going into the game," Taylor said. "We can't put them in harm's way for too long."

Right-back Lee Peltier, who came on as a substitute against the Bluebirds for his first outing since picking up an opening-day calf complaint at Stoke City, also adds to Rotherham's options.

The returns of the trio are timely given the lack of the numbers in the Millers' midfield and at the heart of the backline because of the long injury list.

Since Cameron Humphreys was last week ruled out for months by a hamstring tear, Tyler Blackett has been the sole fit senior centre-back while in the middle of the park Jamie Lindsay and Hakeem Odoffin are both sidelined.

"We are only going to get stronger with the bodies coming back," Taylor said. "That will add some quality. 'Caf' has been out for only three weeks. That is not a long period so he shouldn't be too short of match conditioning."

Next-to-bottom Rotherham are in need of a positive home result having failed to pick up a point in any of their five away league fixtures.
