Millers saviour Warnock joins Championship rivals

THE man who masterminded Rotherham United's miraculous Championship survival last season is back in work.

Neil Warnock has joined relegation rivals Cardiff City, hoping to carry on the sterling work he did at the AESSEAL New York Stadium at the back end of last season.

The former Sheffield United, Leeds United and QPR manager succeeded Neil Redfearn in the Millers hotseat with the club sitting in the drop zone, eventually going on an 11-game unbeaten run to secure second tier status.

1-0 wins over promotion chasers Middlesborough and Sheffield Wednesday, as well as a late comeback to draw 3-3 against Derby County, were highlights of his reign.

WARNOCK SCOOPED THE MANAGER OF THE MONTH AWARD IN MARCH WHILE WITH THE MILLERS

Chairman Tony Stewart was keen to secure the 67-year-old's services for the current campaign but the two parties couldn't reach an agreement, with Alan Stubbs eventually being appointed.

Assistant manager Kevin Blackwell and first team coach Ronnie Jepson join Warnock in the Welsh capital.

There will be no return to the New York for Warnock and his new team, as the Millers have already hosted the Bluebirds, losing 2-1.
