BREAKING: Skipper Frecklington signs new two-year deal

ROTHERHAM United captain Lee Frecklington has put pen-to-paper on a new two year deal.

The fans' favourite had a year remaining on his old contract but the club have acted swiftly to tie the energetic midfielder down to a longer deal.

Frecklington (30) is the only remaining player from the Millers' League Two days and has enjoyed a rise to prominence that matches the club's rise through the leagues.

Although he suffered with injuries last season, Frecklington came back into the squad towards the end of the campaign and played a key role in keeping Rotherham in the Championship.

The Irishman was signed by former manager Steve Evans following a successful loan spell from Peterborough in 2013.

Frecklington was made captain following Evans' decision to strip Greg Halford of the armband at the beginning of last season and has made over 140 appearences for the club, scoring 29 goals.
