ROTHERHAM United this evening completed a deadline-day move for experienced international centre-half Bailey Wright.

The 30-year-old has joined the Millers from Championship rivals Sunderland on a loan deal until the end of the season.

The Melbourne-born defender is approaching 400 career games and played for Australia at the recent World Cup in Qatar.

He becomes the Millers' sixth signing of the January transfer window and another arrival - an attacking midfielder - is expected before tonight's 11pm close of business.

Rotherham, who now have five loanees on their books, needed defensive cover after an injury suffered by centre-back Sean Morrison who was their first signing of the month.

Wright began his career with Preston North End, making his debut as an 18-year-old, before moving to Bristol City and then, in 2020, to Sunderland for whom he has made 102 appearances.

He has spent seven and half seasons in the second tier.
