Hide Ad“We have had to be shrewd, canny and bring in a professional person we think can do the job. We wanted a manager who has seen it, been it and done it.
“We have some dynamic young players. They're hungry and the right management will make a difference.”
The Watford-born former Wales defender is the Millers' fifth manager in just over 12 months, but Mr Stewart said he and the new boss were "jubilant" and that it was "a good deal for both parties."
Jackett has won promotions with Swansea, Millwall and Wolves but has been out of work since parting company with the Midlands club in July.

“He is an experienced individual, he has a good pedigree and his stats look good."
Former Bristol City manager Steve Cotterill and previous candidate Stuart Gray all featured in the bookies’ odds lists yesterday alongside Tony Mowbray, Paul Dickov and ex-Miller Paul Hurst, now at Grimsby Town.
Jackett will be in charge of first team affiars for tomorrow's home clash with Reading.
