Five-star display from Millers

ROTHERHAM United got 2011 off to a storming start by destroying promotion rivals Port Vale at Don Valley Stadium.

Two goals from Ryan Taylor and further strikes from Nicky Law, Will Atkinson and a long-range screamer from Arsenal loanee Mark Randall capped a 5-0 New Year’s Day win that puts the Millers in second spot in League Two.

Vale had goalkeeper Stuart Tomlinson sent off late in the first half for bringing down Marcus Marshall but already trailed 2-0 at the time.

They could still have few complaints with the final scoreline as the free-scoring Millers turned in arguably their best performance since manager Ronnie Moore’s return to the club.

Rotherham aim to continue the good work at MacclesfieldTown tomorrow (3pm).
