Fiord Fiesta tops used most-wanted list

THE FORD Fiesta has become the most in demand used car in the UK.

Figures published this week revealed that the popular hatchback had overtaken its chief rival, Vauxhall’s Corsa, to seize the crown of top-selling used car over the past twelve months.

Analysis experts Experian found that 285,962 used Fiesta’s were sold in the UK last year, compared to 278,169 in 2009.

These figures came despite an overall decline in used car sales.

The five top selling used cars were: Ford Fiesta, Vauxhall Corsa, Vauxhall Astra (271,412), Ford Focus (259,355), Volkswagen Golf (199,919).

Joe Myers, Automotive General Manager at Experian, said: “Experian’s analysis shows that affordable smaller vehicles continue to be the most appealing to motorists shopping in the used car market.

“The success of the supermini segment can be put down to increased consumer interest at the value end of the market and greater demand for more fuel efficient vehicles.”
