Derbyshire moving on

ROTHERHAM United will today begin the job of finding a replacement for top scorer Matt Derbyshire.

The 30 year old marksman was last night expected to complete a move to Cypriot side Omonia Nicosia – barring any last minute hitches – after rejecting terms at the New York Stadium.

But the news has been tempered with Stephen Kelly likely to agree a new deal. The 32 year old is expected to join fellow defender Richard Wood by penning a contract in the next few days.

Boss Alan Stubbs will now look to add to his recruitments with Kirk Broadfoot being pushed for a decision over his contract offer.

Stubbs told the Advertiser: “We are hopeful of concluding Stephen Kelly and are also hopeful on Broadfoot. Discussions are ongoing but we are at the stage where we would like to know as soon as possible.”
