Defensive poser for Millers chief

ROTHERHAM United manager Ronnie Moore faces a defensive headache ahead of tomorrow's home match with Oxford United.

Team captain and centre-half Ryan Cresswell pulled up in training yesterday after taking a whack on the knee while right-back Johnny Mullins is expected to be out for a prolonged spell after limping out of Tuesday's JP Trophy defeat to Huddersfield with a calf problem.

Moore was last night trying to bring in an experienced right-back and hoping Cresswell as well as his central defensive partner Nick Fenton are fit to play.

Fenton didn't train yesterday, having picked up another calf injury on Tuesday, and neither did striker Ryan Taylor, who also took a knock in midweek.

Moore is nevertheless optimistic that both will be fit and available to face Oxford as the Millers bid to snap a run of five games without a win in what will be their fourth successive home game.

Striker Tom Elliott has also declared himself fit and available while top scorer Adam Le Fondre has recovered from the bug which kept him out on Tuesday.

Tomorrow's game is followed by an FA Cup first-round replay at York City on Wednesday.
