ROTHERHAM United defender Ryan Cresswell may go out on loan to speed his comeback from injury.

Out since September with an ankle problem, a planned run-out for the reserves on Tuesday was scuppered by the weather and now manager Andy Scott says he may look at other options.

He said: "He might need games and with Richard Naylor coming in, it could be a chance for Ryan to go out on loan for a month, I don't know. We'll see whether we can arrange a game next week because without match time he's going to come into the side without minutes under his belt and we are aware of that, so we are looking at the options."

Latest recruits Scott Griffiths and Naylor, meanwhile, are pushing for starts for tomorrow's home game against Port Vale. Experienced centre-back Naylor was a non-playing sub for the defeat to Swindon last Saturday while left-back Griffiths, in on loan from Peterborough until the end of the season, was not considered quite up to speed.

Scott, striving to get his side back into the League Two play-off frame, said: "We are close to being one of the best sides in the division but we need to be more consistent."
