Confidence is up, says Derbyshire

STRIKER Matt Derbyshire says Rotherham United are in exactly the right frame of mind for Friday's clash with local rivals Sheffield Wednesday.

Danny Collins' second-half goal earned a 1-1 draw against form side Reading at the AESSEAL New York Stadium last night and the Millers could have taken all three points in an end-to-end finale. They were also depleted by injuries in what was manager Neil Redfearn's first home game in charge.

They remain in the bottom three in the Championship but Derbyshire insists the performance against arguably the best team in the league provides a morale-boost ahead of the eagerly anticipated meeting with the Owls.

He said: "In the first half we didn't come out of the traps as well as we would like but after half time we started strongly and we thought we were the better team in the second half.

"It felt like we've lost because we wanted to go on and win but the confidence is massive in the dressing room and that can only be good for us going into a big derby."

Kick-off on Friday is 7.45pm and don't miss this week's Advertiser for all the big-match build-up.
