BREAKING: Jones leaves Titans

ROTHERHAM Titans have today parted company with head coach Mark Jones and are expected to make an announcement regarding his replacement as early as tomorrow.

It is understood that the new coach will have top level experience as well as the relevant Championship know-how.

Jones leaves the Clifton Lane club after 10 straight defeats, the final straw for club owners Nick Cragg and Martin Jenkinson being Saturday's 16-11 reversal at relegation rivals Moseley.

Chairman Cragg said: "Results over the last three months have not been what we would have wished them to be and both parties have agreed that now is the time for change.

“Mark is a quality individual for whom we have the greatest respect. He has handled himself with professionalism and dignity throughout his time with us and he has stuck to his principles as to how he believes the game should be played.”

The departed Jones said: “I would like to thank Rotherham Titans for the opportunity to coach in the Championship. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Titans and it has been a great learning experience.

“I am very content with what I have done and the way I have gone about it. I would like to thank the players and the back room staff for all their hard work."
