Bowls challenge rolls into action

MORE than £2,000 in prizemoney will be up for grabs when a top bowling competition rolls into action this weekend.

West Melton Bowling Club welcomes the first 32 bowlers to compete for the Victory Cup on Sunday, with more action to follow on the following three Sundays July 12, 19 and 26.

The morning session starts at 10.30am (practice from 10am) and the afternoon session at 2.30pm (practice from 2pm).

The 16 finalists will play on Sunday, August 9 for prizemoney of £2,075.

There is a £50 prize for the lady who progresses furthest. The competition is sponsored by C. Beaumont and Sons P.H. Heating and West Melton Bowling Club.

Competitors for the first two sessions are — July 5 morning session: Rob Wiltshire, Joe Wiltshire, Lee Schofield, Debbie Talbot, Adam Howcroft, Mark Kay, Steve Oliver, Mick Swift,  Peter Sturch, Mark Farmer, John Richardson, David Hallam, Scott Woodward, Jon Edmondson, Shaun Goldthorpe and Colin Haywood.

July 5 afternoon session: Anton Haigh, Richard Brooke, Kieran O'Prey, Terry Brook, Keith Banks, Colin Scorah, Calum Mailer, Jim Norris, Eric Phillips, Paul Leah, Denise Allin, Mick Hobson, Tommy Silcock, Scott Parkes, Mark Richardson and Adam Morgan.
