A good point, says Raynor

ASSISTANT manager Paul Raynor insists Rotherham United's second-half performance at York City warranted three points.

The Millers put an average first half behind them to enjoy the better of proceedings after the break, with Lionel Ainsworth putting a match-winning chance wide.

Saturday's 0-0 draw left them still waiting for their first victory on the road this season but Raynor said a point was a decent return from a tricky fixture against the Minstermen, who are holding their own back in the Football League after an eight-year absence.

He said: "I thought on the balance of play in the second half we were unfortunate not to come away with three points. York were only ever going to hurt us on the break. I thought they'd given as good as they'd got and that's not a criticism of them. They played some neat and tidy stuff in the first half but didn't really hurt us too much.

"We needed to raise our game and we moved the ball sharper and got into good areas and didn't punish them enough, but it was a good point."

Striker Daniel Nardiello, who missed the match due to a groin injury, will be available for Saturday's home match against Southend United.

The fixture will be manager Steve Evans' last of his six-game stadium ban.
