Striker boost for Millers

Tom Pope...earmarked for run-out with reserves.

MANAGER Ronnie Moore says Rotherham United's striker situation could soon be looking a lot rosier.

In the market for an experienced partner for Adam Le Fondre, Moore has not been able to bring in targets like Jon Macken, Izale McLeod and Tranmere Rovers striker Ian Thomas-Moore.

But with injured strikers Ryan Taylor and Tom Pope edging back to fitness, Moore could soon have a wealth of options.

He said: "Our Ian played for Tranmere on Saturday and we've not been able to agree on a fee so that's probably dead in the water.

"But Ryan Taylor should be back in seven days and Tom Pope will play in the reserves today so all of a sudden we're going to have a nice, strong bench to look at."
Moore met with Le Fondre this week to discuss his request for an extended contract.
