Thanks for a memorable reunion

Sir--When I retired from teaching in July last year I took a couple of class photos of my first and last tutor groups at the school for publication in the Down Memory Lane section of your publication.

When they appeared I was approached by a couple of students who suggested a reunion and the idea was born.

The year group started at the school in September 1977,the same year as I started, so I set up a group on facebook thinking that perhaps it would attract a few and maybe the idea was "pie in the sky".

How wrong could I have been??The event was held on 18th May at the Reresby Arms in Thrybergh and around 70 or 80 ex-students from the year group came along. They came from places as far afield as Canada,Germany and all over the U K as well as locally.

I was overwhelmed by the turn out and we had a fantastic evening catching up on 30 years of gossip.

I also had many messages from ex-students who could not make it for personal reasons on that date.

Through your paper I would like to thank all those who came along and made the evening such a success.I would also like to thank Steve and Betty Lyon at the Reresby Arms for their hospitality.

It really was a very memorable night and one which will stay with me forever.Thank you all. You really made my night.I look forward to repeating this in the future.
