Tesco date sales supporting Israel

Sir - IN the holy and glorious month of Ramadan, Tesco has taken the decision to sell dates, the profits from which will go towards supporting the continued and illegal seizure of land in Palestine.

The deeply disturbing, tragic and illegal occupation of Palestine since 1947 has drawn criticism from all four corners of the world, except the United States of America.

The reasons for this is found in the amount of arms and money given to Israel in its pursuit of land that doesn’t belong to them.

People who support human rights, who want to stop women and children being subjected to brutal treatment in their own homes and who want to see peace in the middle east will boycott the goods which provide Israel and its many financial backers with funds, one of these being the Israeli dates which Tesco has cynically decided to sell under the guise of wishing our Muslim brothers and sisters a peaceful, loving and blessed month of family time, prayer and peaceful recreational activity.

I asked Tesco about this issue and they issued a “corporate statement”. One of the reasons they are so petrified of discussing this is because the organisation supports Israel. I offer my prayers to Palestine — illegally occupied by Israel and betrayed by a world who does nothing but watch.
