Remember St Edmund

Sir - I wonder if anyone will be celebrating the very much forgotten about St Edmund's Day on Sunday,November 20? After all he is the patron saint of the English, as opposed to St George being the patron saint of England.

So if you do nothing else this weekend spare a thought for the man who died in our country, for our country, and who is buried in our country (Bury St Edmunds).

A man who died an horrific death at the hands of Danish heathen warlords defending England and refusing to renounce Christianity. For this he died a martyr and should duly be remembered.
