Praise for Adult Services

Over the last few years I have had to deal with the council Adult Services, due to my wife’s ailments and disabilities.

Never once have we been let down. Both my wife and I are 82 years of age. Recently I had to have two weeks respite from caring for my wife; in two hours the Social Services Adult Department had my wife fixed up to stay in a nursing home. That’s what they are good at. The staff are second to none.

About three years ago the same department came and altered some steps and fixed a handrail, so that my wife was able to go out. They can’t be blamed for the care homes, or should I say money factories, because that is what they have become thanks to Mrs Thatcher.

I know everything has to pay its way, but to make a profit out of people’s suffering is not ethical to me.

So you see Cllr Cowles all is not lost in Rotherham. The bad news about children and sex exploitation is dreadful; the people who are to blame deserve everything that is coming their way. If all the Town Hall departments were as good as the Social Adult Services, then Rotherham could hold its head up high.

By the way, we are both born and bred in Sheffield, having only lived here 18 years.
