LETTER: Town's recovery well under way

Sir; Every week I am fortunate to speak with many highly motivated, enthusiastic and passionate local business owners and managers, who are proud of their business and their town

There are changes (for the better) happening in and around the town centre including the beautiful minster gardens, the inspirational open air gallery scheme, the proposed High Street renovations in conjunction with Chris Hamby and the council (a council that is proactive and constantly searching for ways to improve the town with very limited budgets).

So why is it when there is any news coverage of Rotherham it is usually so negative?

It is easy to criticise, and of course times ARE hard and nowhere suffers more than Retail, however let's all take every opportunity to tell the world that Rotherham is doing it's darndest to fight back, with new small independent specialist stores sprouting up almost unnoticed throughout the town alongside the traditional names, Rotherham is not unique in larger brand stores relocating to out of town malls and the trick is to have a shopping experience that offers both to our shoppers.

We here at The Source Skills Academy, along with our valued partners such as the Chamber of Commerce and The Being Better project amongst others do not accept that this patient is dead, merely recuperating!
