LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Public sector must get real

THE UK’s greatest divide is not north/south but the public versus private sector.

The private sector has always had a sense of financial reality.

Employees know that large pay rises can’t be given when employers are in a difficult economical climate. Even then, pay rises come with greater efficiency, increased output, market demand etc.

Why doesn’t the public sector understand the meaning of reality?

The government hasn’t got a magic money pot, so striking is not only useless but selfish.

Public employees have favourable working conditions with working from home, fixed pensions, flexible hours etc.

Back to work please and join the private sector employees.

We should work through the current hard times together and not blackmail the government.
