Help could be available if you are hit by 'Bedroom Tax'

I WRITE as we near the introduction of the reduction in housing benefit some tenants face, which has been labelled the Bedroom Tax.

May I bring to your readers attention something our local authorities seem to not want us to know. If tenants are not able to meet their housing costs after the introduction of the 'tax', they may still be able to claim a Discretionary Housing Payment.

A claim for this payment has to be made to the relevant local authority, the payment will not be made automatically to those who are entitled, and unfortunately, it appears that authorities are reluctant to promote it.

If you feel that the introduction of this 'tax' will leave you unable to meet your needs, may I suggest you contact your local authority as soon as possible.
