Get road markings right

I HAVE just been reading your article on road markings at the St Anne’s roundabout.

It is not just that roundabout which has faults it is also the roundabout before the St Anne’s, the old B&Q roundabout.

I have seen more accidents and near misses by people being in the wrong lane. If you approach the roundabout from Wortley road then the left hand lane is for turning left only. Yet people quite often get in that lane to go straight on. If you approach the roundabout from the town centre (with Lidl on your left) the left hand lane is for left turns and straight on.

Twelve months ago my daughter was in the left lane to go straight on and a car in the middle lane was turning left( he was in the wrong lane) and hit my daughter. The claim is still ongoing. I must see at least three times a week people who are in the wrong lane causing havoc with other motorists, so visitors to Rotherham who are not familiar with the layout have no chance.

Let’s hope when the alterations to Centenary Way are complete they get the road marking right for that.
