Exhibition is poor

I DON’T usually write to newspapers, but I feel the need after visiting the new York and Lancaster exhibition at the museum.

In comparison with the former exhibit in the basement of the library it is a joke. It is bland, generalistic and downright poor, especially in the content of the items which are on display. What has happened to the rich variety of the exhibits? Were they on loan and have been reclaimed due to the inordinate time the displays have been in store or have these items just disappeared?

Whatever the case, it is a disgrace and brings to mind the World War 1 tank presented to Rotherham and displayed in the park for a time in years gone by. Apparently it was sold by the council for scrap as it ‘was an eyesore’ and ‘glorifying warfare’ when it just needed tidying and painting.

Whatever the case, we should not hold our breath waiting for the rest of those missing items to be added to this insipid exhibition.
