CHIC students strut their stuff in France after swapping South Yorkshire for the banks of the Seine.

A group from RCAT’s visual arts department visited the French town of St Quentin in Northern France, Rotherham’s twin town, while fashion, art and design students headed to Paris for the Lycee’s Grand Fashion Show at the Palais de Fervaques.

Photography students were also able to practise their photography at the fashion show.

The students all soaked up the culture visiting Notre Dame Cathedral, the Museum of Decorative Arts and galleries during their visit to Paris.

The exchange was organised in conjunction with Rotherham Borough Council, with three representatives from the council including head of children’s services, Joyce Thacker, also part of the delegation.

An RCAT spokesman said: “The aim of the exchange programme is to enable students from both countries to work together to experience college life in a different country and to build relationships and strong links which will enable the exchange programme to develop further.

“The students were taking part in a return exchange visit following French students’ visit to Rotherham in October when students from Jean Bouin Lycee visited the college.”

Gwen Plant, deputy head of visual and performing arts, said: “The visit provided a unique opportunity for students to visit a college in France and to experience and learn to understand different cultures.”
