IN Reply to your article (June 7, “We need you”), I have written to you before about Rotherham’s “forgotten heroes”.  I have already made a donation towards the memories but I would also like to point out the book of Remembrance in Rotherham Minster was also part paid for by donations from family and friends of the service personnel who lost their lives.

My father ST Tinsdale gave his life and my sister made a collection for the book, even our children who had only ever seen photographs of their grandad gave to it because they were so proud of him.

Now you have brought it to the attention of the people in Rotherham I wait in anticipation to see if it is only the people of Rotherham who will donate or if the council will at long last (nearly 70 years) find it in their hearts to honour the ‘Brave Men and Women of Rotherham’ who gave their all that we may like in freedom.
