Zara-Louise aims to be green queen

A WOULD-BE beauty queen is hoping to prove she is out of this world by landing a spot in the final of Miss Earth.

Zara-Louise Gold-Manyou (22) is bidding to do her bit for the planet as she prepares for the national finals of the contest.

She has launched a campaign to promote a cleaner and healthier environment in her community in an effort to scoop the Green Award to be presented on the night of the final.

Zara-Louise, who is from Brinsworth and works at the Source Skills Academy in Meadowhall, said: “I attended a training course at work, which was based around working safely and we discussed the impact businesses can have on the environment.

“We were told how one litre of solvent can contaminate 100 million litres of water.

“I was shocked to think such a small amount could have such a large effect."

Zara-Louise is also aiming to raise funds for Miss Earth’s community project Girls4Trees, from which funds will go to organisations and schools to help fund street clean-ups and community projects.
