Your chance to choose charity cash destination

MEMBERS of the public in Rotherham are being called upon to help decide how a building society branch in the town should split £1,000 between three charities.

Colleagues at the town’s Barnsley Building Society have chosen Rotherham Rescue Rangers, Rotherham Hospice Trust and The Children's Hospital Charity to receive a share of the cash as part of a new campaign to help good causes.

The charitable campaign will run until next Friday, during which time shoppers and residents are invited into the branch to vote for their favourite of the three charities.

The number of votes received for each charity will determine the amount of money each receives — the one with the most will receive £500, second place £300 and in third place, £200.

Qamar Yaunos, manager of the Rotherham branch of Barnsley Building Society, said: “We know how important our chosen three charities are to our local community so we’re delighted to be making a donation to help them continue their important work — just how much they receive though will be up to our customers and members of the public.

“In this campaign votes equal pounds so we hope as many people as possible will take a minute to pop in and make their vote count.”
