From All Saints' Square, the marchers will continue down Bridgegate, turn right onto Fredrick Street via Effingham Island and back into All Saints' Square to give a static performance.

The band will then march back to the Town Hall.

One of 19 Territorial Army bands and was formed in October 2008, it has 35 musicians who, apart from one full time administrator, are volunteers drawn from across Yorkshire.

Several band members have served on operations, or as musicians, in the Regular Army.

The Yorkshire Regiment has a large number of musical pieces associated with its long history, most notably the Regimental Quick March, Ca Ira, the only piece of music to have been played “in action”, when the 14th Regiment of Foot struck up the

French revolutionary song at the battle of Famars in 1793.

Council leader Roger Stone said: “It’s an honour and a privilege to welcome the Band of the Yorkshire Regiment back to Rotherham.

“To have the Regimental Band, who have the Freedom of the Borough, parade through town is a genuine occasion for celebration and I sincerely urge everyone to join us in welcoming them to Rotherham.”
