Woman hurt in smash

A PENSIONER was taken to hospital for treatment after breaking her wrist in a car crash in Wombwell.

South Yorkshire Police are appealing for information after the 73-year-old woman was hurt in a collision on the High Street at its junction with Station Road on Saturday at 9.30am.

The woman was crossing Station Road on the pedestrian crossing when a silver Ford Focus driven by a 62-year-old woman turned right from the High Street onto Station Road and the accident happened.

The 73-year-old sustained a suspected fractured wrist and a cut on her head and was treated at Barnsley District Hospital. 

The 62-year-old female driver of the car  was not thought to have been hurt.
