Week One - Saying goodbye and the girls settling in

WE ARRIVED at camp for 10am on Sunday, it was very busy with the registration process.

Michelle had a few problems with Georgia’s paper work but it got sorted out and we then unpacked with the girls.

Once that was done, it was time to say goodbye. It was really hard, but we know it’s for their benefit.

The girls went off for some lunch and we went to a parent meeting.

The first call was today last Thursday at 8pm, and calls after this will be Tuesdays and Saturdays. We waited together with very mixed feelings.

Michelle had a very positive call from Georgia. She has a best friend Lauren already and seems to have settled in quite well.

She was still quite tearful and a bit upset because she is missing us. We were the same the house is so quiet as she is our only child.

She is really enjoying all the activities and having fun, it is so very hard for us but we know the outcome will be worth it.

I had quite a teary call from Tamara—she is enjoying it very much, but found it difficult hearing me on the phone.

She said the food was good, and has made friends with some of the girls.

After the calls we cried together, and you do think for a while ‘Are we doing the right thing’, but I suppose these are natural feelings.
