Website wants you to 'Visit Rotherham'

BUSINESSES are being urged to take advantage of a new website that will showcase the best of what Rotherham has to offer.

The Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber of Commerce and Rotherham Borough Council’s Economy Board has established VisitRotherham.com.

The web-site is targeted at residents and people outside the area to show them what the town has to offer.

Mark Hannigan, chamber operations manager, is calling on businesses to fill in a free listings form so their company can be included on the web-site.

Mark said around 150 letters had been issued to firms across the tourism, leisure and hospitality sectors but only around 12 had responded so far.

He said: “When you try and give something away for free people think there is a catch involved, but there isn’t, it’s a free listing.

“The web-site will be a central reference point for all activities, events and attractions in the town.

“Rotherham has plenty of attractions, hotels and events happening and there is no central means to collate all this.

“We have many hidden treasures such as Wentworth Woodhouse, Chapel on the Bridge and Gallery Town that we need to promote and market.”

No date has been fixed yet for the web-site to go live as the team is waiting for more listing forms to be submitted, but it was hoped it would be live by the end of May.
